With Round 1 just around the corner, the nib Newcastle Knights held their 2017 Corporate Season Launch at Marina Views in Wickham on Friday night.

A chance for players, staff, sponsors and corporate partners to get together and celebrate the return of footy, almost 300 people attended the 2017 Season Launch.

Coach Nathan Brown said he was thankful for the continued support of local businesses.

“Obviously the last few years have been tough, but there’s a lot of people that I met last year who are still here and supporting the Club,” he told Knights TV.

“It’s very appreciated, but it’s also a sign that they love the team and they love the town.

“Everyone loves a winner, but when things have been bad we keep seeing the same faces sticking around and I think that says a lot for Newcastle.”

With the Knights celebrating their 30th year, guests were treated to speakers such as Mark Sargent and Marc Glanville, and video packages looking back over the Club’s rich history.

One of the biggest moments of the evening was when Trent Hodkinson was unveiled as 2017 captain, and he said it was good for the team to spend an evening with valued partners.

“It’s important to get to know our sponsors and corporate partners,” he said.

“They do so much for us and it’s been a good night.”

John Nisner from Marina Views agreed with Hodkinson’s sentiment, and said it was a fantastic event to kick off the new season.

“It meant a lot to have the Launch at our venue,” he said.

“As Novocastrians, we enjoy getting involved in events that support our town.

“We’re avid supporters of the Knights so it was exciting to hold this event at Marina Views.”
