Following the conclusion of the 2016 pre-season campaign on Wednesday, coach Nathan Brown praised the squad for their effort and determination.

"They have been really good, we can't fault their attitude... and their willingness," he told Knights TV.

After taking over as head coach just over a year ago, Brown is pleased with the squad's improvement year-on-year.

"The young guys have certainly made some big strides on last year, and the new players we have brought in have all contributed to the improvement of the younger guys," he added.

"As a whole, we feel like we are certainly a long way ahead of where we were last year."

The addition of senior players such as Rory Kostjasyn and Jamie Buhrer ahead of the 2017 season has benefited the young squad.

"Rory has spent some time in rehab but his impact has been great. Jamie Buher's impact has been terrific. Josh Starling knows how to train hard, work hard and prepare properly," Brown noted.

The Knights resume pre-season training in the New Year on January 4.
