A recent hamstring injury momentarily set back Jarrod Mullen’s pre-season, but Physical Performance Manager Tony Ayoub says the five-eighth’s recovery is well on track.

Having successfully completed a running session on the field on Wednesday morning, Mullen is scheduled to return to team training next week.

“Because of his history we’re not wanting to rush him, but next week he’ll be back into the main group and doing some skills sessions,” Ayoub explained.

“Within the next couple of weeks, depending on his progress, we will hopefully see him back into the main group on a fulltime basis. From there, it will be about managing him because of age and his history.”

Moving forward Mullen’s load will be monitored, and his rehab and training schedule tweaked.

“He had a session on Monday, just some rehab work,” Ayoub added.

“He came in yesterday saying he was really sore in the areas we wanted him to be, so that’s a great thing.

“We have got some confidence in how hard Jarrod’s working, and that will hopefully translate into some success going forward with him."
