With the 2017 Membership campaign Sacred Ground now underway, television commercials will be visiting the screens of thousands around the Hunter.

While the final product may only be 60 seconds long, hundreds of hours went into the development and creation of what went on screen.

It all culminated in an eight-hour shoot at McDonald Jones Stadium, with five cameras and a crew of nearly 30.

Nathan Ross, who starred in the commercial, took Knights TV behind the scenes.

“It felt great walking out onto the paddock,” Mark Hughes said, who also features in the Sacred Ground campaign.

“I did it plenty of times as a player, and you forget what it’s like being out there.

“Mind you it has changed a lot since I was playing, the facilities are amazing these days.”

Mark Sargent was another former player who appears in the commercial, and spoke about what it meant for him to walk out on the Sacred Ground.

“It doesn’t matter when you go out there or how often, you always get a bit of a buzz,” he explained.

“If you’ve played here, it’s a special place.

“There’s not a blade of grass left out there that I played on, but it’s still the stadium that we played on.”
