The newest nib Newcastle Knights Under 20s recruits have been welcomed to the city this week, kick-starting their professional football career with a week-long NRL Playwise program at Hunter TAFE.

The 15 new recruits will graduate from the week-long intensive program at a special presentation that will also include the announcement of the Newcastle Knights’ Hunter TAFE 2016 Student of the Year.

17 Newcastle Knight’s players will also be inducted into the Junior Hall of fame, recognising the exceptional efforts of junior Knights’ players representing at the State, National and International level.

Hunter TAFE Deputy Institute Director, Marie Larkings will be joined by Knights coach, Nathan Brown, Knights Ambassador, Danny Buderus and Anthony Quinn from the Rugby League Players Association to announce the 2016 Newcastle Knights’ Hunter TAFE Student of the Year.

The Knights Hunter TAFE Student of the Year is presented to one outstanding NYC Player, recognising their commitment to education and work alongside their football career with the Knights.

The Playwise program is an initiative between Hunter TAFE, The Newcastle Knights and the NRL and delivers critical and professional life skills to new recruits and aims to facilitate pathways to further work and study opportunities.
