The Newcastle Knights and Newcastle Rugby League have teamed up to assist in growing the game of rugby league locally through the 2016 District Club Ambassador Program.
As a part of this initiative, Newcastle Knights players have been appointed ambassadors across nine Newcastle Rugby League Clubs in the aim of building stronger ties between the two important community organisations.
The partnership this year kicked off with Knights representatives attending and supporting the Newcastle Rugby League season launch and continues through the Back to the Juniors event which will see the Newcastle Knights’ full playing squad and coaching staff head out to local clubs on Wednesday afternoon.
Local rugby league clubs Maitland, Kurri Kurri, Central Newcastle, Wests, Souths, Lakes, Macquarie, Port Stephens and Cessnock will host the NRL players for meet and greets and football skills clinics.
Later in the season, the Knights will continue to focus on grassroots football and will take part in a School Blitz visiting a raft of local primary and high schools.
The Newcastle Knights will attend the junior clubs from 5pm to 6.30pm on Wednesday July 20.
