Kids go free this Sunday
The Newcastle Knights are celebrating a family fun day at the footy this Sunday with kids receiving free entry to the Knights’ Round 19 match against the Melbourne Storm at Hunter Stadium.
Whether it’s sitting on the hill or watching on from the grandstand, an afternoon at the football is a fantastic family activity with plenty of action to experience both on and off the field.
Days at the football spent with family are childhood memories many of the Newcastle Knights have even experienced.
For Newcastle Knight Jake Mamo, his love of the game was ignited watching the Knights play at Hunter Stadium.
“I remember coming up for games when I was five, six, seven years old with my grandparents and sitting on the hill or sitting in the stands and watching Joey (Johns) and Timana Tahu and guys like that running around,” he said.
Meanwhile forward Robbie Rochow also fondly recollects attending games when he was young.
“I used to come with Dad and sit on the hill. The stadium has changed a bit now,” he added.
“It was good to sit on the hill and sit back and enjoy it.
“In the breaks we used to have a football and kick it around and it used to go over the fence.
“It was a great atmosphere growing up here.”
