For Lachlan Fitzgibbon, his 2015 season couldn’t have been more perfect.

Along with its exciting highlights and personal success, the 21-year-old emerging Knight claimed the 2015 NSW Cup Player of the Year Award on Friday evening.

Fitzgibbon has surged ahead in his career after joining the NRL squad for pre-season training. He then trained fulltime with the squad throughout the year and cemented himself in the NSW Cup Knights starting side.

In Round 21 of 2015 season, he proudly made his first grade debut.

“I made my NRL debut and we won the grand final, so I can’t pinpoint the best point,” Fitzgibbon said after accepting the award.

“But in life so far, it would be between the debut and the grand final.

“What an experience.”

Fitzgibbon takes pride in the personal devleopment he has made since training full time at the Club.

“It’s been a massive jump between coming from 20s and training with NRL,” he said.

“I’ve grown so much over the year being in that senior squad.”

Fitzgibbon has high expectations for 2016 and is determined to grow in his role with the NSW Cup Knights, as well as striving for more opportunities to play NRL.

“This year I want to keep moving forward and try to play some more NRL games,” he said.

“I’m happy playing with Cup and have a really good side and I can’t wait until next year.”
