Carlos Tuimavave is named in NSW Cup's Round 17 match against the Manly Sea Eagles.

Newcastle Knights five-eighth Carlos Tuimavave will depart the Club at season’s end after being released from the final year of his contract.

Tuimavave joined the Knights in 2015 on a two-year deal however the Club understands a three-year contract in England provides the young utility some longer-term security.

“We have agreed to release Carlos based on what is best for him and his family,” Director of Football Michael Hagan said.

“We didn’t want to deny Carlos the opportunity to play more consistent football with a long-term contract on the table for him.

“He is a good young footballer and he goes to England with our very best wishes.”

The 23-year-old has played four games of NRL for the Knights and a total of 13 NRL matches.

“I have enjoyed my time at the Knights but made this decision because it is best for my family, as we have a baby on the way,” Tuimavave said.

“I want to say thank you to the Club, the players and coaches and the fans for the opportunity to play here.”
