Newcastle Knights captain Kurt Gidley was issued with a Grade 1 High Tackle – Careless charge by the Match Review Panel on Monday afternoon for a tackle on Wests Tigers' Chris Lawrence in the 44th minute of Sunday's win.
The base penalty for the charge is 75 points and by taking the early plea, it is reduced to 56 points.

Gidley has accepted the early plea and will be available for Monday night's match against the Brisbane Broncos at Hunter Stadium.
