Newcastle Knights new recruit Carlos Tuimavave has arrived in Newcastle, with pre-season set to kick off for the 22-year-old.
Tuimavave, who has signed a two-year contract with the Club, made his NRL debut for the Warriors in 2012 and since played nine NRL matches.
After much success in the junior ranks at the Warriors, including two Under 20 premierships, joining Newcastle is about opportunity.
“Leaving my mum, brother and sisters was a tough decision but I feel it was the right decision and hopefully I am moving on to bigger and better things,” Tuimavave explains.
“I want to play NRL, there is an opportunity here to do that and that is the reason I have come.
“There are a lot of experienced players that can help me out and I can’t wait to get stuck in and hopefully reap the rewards.”
A number of the senior players greeted Tuimavave upon arrival at the Club headquarters on Friday.
“They were very welcoming,” Tuimavave said.
“Like I said there are a lot of experienced players here and to be in the squad with the likes of Kurt Gidley and Jeremy Smith is a big privilege and hopefully I can learn a lot off them.”
The five-eighth will now take some time to settle into a house with partner Susan before pre-season officially starts on November 3.
“My goal is to have a good pre-season, get nice and fit and then I hope to stay injury free for the season,” he added.
