Newcastle Knight Jake Mamo has been named in the Junior Kangaroos set to play the Junior Kiwis on Saturday October 18 at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland.

NYC Knights' team manager Craig Smith has touted the selection as an unbelievable achievement for the 20-year-old.

“It’s another feather in his cap,” Smith said.

“He worked really, really hard last off season to put himself in the position to play NRL football and he achieved that goal this year, went into a finals series with our under 20s and has now been rewarded with this selection.

“It tops off a really good year for him.”

There is a possibility Mamo will face up against Knights teammates Joseph Tapine, James Taylor, Danny Levi, Chance Peni and Pride Petterson-Robati who have been named in the Junior Kiwis train on side. The final squad is yet to be announced.

“We have five selected, and we’d be hopeful to see Knights in the side,” Smith said.

“They’d all do a fantastic job if selected, and probably form throughout the year warrants they are a chance.

“That could make it fairly interesting for Jake."

It has certainly been a stellar year for the minor premiership U20 Knights with a number of players selected in representative sides and achieving accolades for their performances this season.

Sione Mata’utia was earlier named to play along side Knight Beau Scott in the Prime Minister’s XIII against the PNG Kumuls at Kokopo on October 12.
