Newcastle Knights physiotherapist Phil Coles has been appointed as San Antonio Spurs’ Director of Medical Services.
Coles joined the Knights at the start of the 2013 season after spending three years with Liverpool FC.
“We are disappointed to lose someone of Phil’s calibre but know it was a great opportunity for him to join the Spurs,” CEO Matt Gidley.
“We of course wish him and his family well, and will begin the recruitment process to replace him.”
Coles will immediately commence his role with the five-time NBA champions.
“Leaving Newcastle was a tough decision and I hope to one day return, however it was a great opportunity professionally to accept this role at the Spurs,” Coles said.
“I wish the Knights all the very best and will continue to support the team from afar.”
