In Round 4, the Knights hosted the Sharks at Hunter Stadium following Alex McKinnon's devastating spinal injury in Round 3. The Knights honoured their injured teammate, defeating the Sharks 30-0.

In Round 18, and coach Wayne Bennett's 700th game as coach, the Knights came from 18-0 down in the 35th minute of the game, to defeat the Sharks 31-18 at Remondis Stadium.

Two weeks later, the Knights stunned the Sydney Roosters, defeating last year's premiers 16-12 at Hunter Stadium. The Round 20 match saw brothers Sione and Chanel Mata'utia make their NRL debut together.

In Round 22, it was a 'that' after-the siren win for the Knights. Newcastle were trailing Melbourne 12-0 before Chris Houston crossed for the home side in his 150th NRL game. With three minutes to play, the Storm led 30-20. Enter Travis Waddell then Akuila Uate to score successive try and made it 30-all with the kick to come. Skipper Kurt Gidley converted from the sideline to give the Knights a two-point win.

Finally, it was Old Boys Day at Hunter Stadium when the Knights hosted the Dragons in Round 26. The Knights not only did the past players proud, but farewelled the Club's departing players in style, winning 40-10. Timana Tahu scored a double in his final NRL match for the red and blue and celebrated with a slam dunk.
