NYC Knight Lachlan Fitzgibbon said although his side was prepared for the St George Illawarra Dragons to be steadfast on redemption, the Knights failed to claw back after the opposition acquired an early lead.

“We knew they’d be coming out harder because of last week, we had the win up there,” Fitzgibbon said.

“We knew they had a couple of boys come back and knew they were going to be strong and come out firing.

“They did that and we were down 12 nil so we had to fight our way back into it and we couldn’t get it done in the end.

“I’m definitely a bit disappointed after the game, but it was upbeat in the sheds I guess, we have another week next week to get at it again and make a difference and move into the finals a bit further."

The experience of playing at Allianz Stadium and warming up at the historical Sydney Cricket Ground was a highlight for the young forward.

“It’s pretty surreal to be honest, I haven’t been here before, so it was good warming up there and hope to be back here.”

The Knights now head back to Allianz Stadium to face the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday at 5.15pm for the next round of the finals.
