On Saturday night in Brisbane, the Newcastle Knights were happy to see passionate fan Nathan O’Connell once again.

Skipper Kurt Gidley, who hosted Nathan in the sheds at Suncorp Stadium, had met Nathan several years ago through the Captains’ Foundation.

“I first met Nathan up in Ballina, where I was lucky enough to spend the day with his family,” Gidley told Knights TV.

“The first thing that struck me was how passionate he was about the club.

“Last year it was good to see him up at the Gold Coast [for the match against the Titans], and this year he made it to the Brisbane game.

“It was an unfortunate result for him to be a part of, but it was great seeing him back in the sheds.

“Hopefully one day we can get him down to Newcastle for a home game.”
