Joey Leilua hopes to continue his explosive combination with young winger Sione Mata'utia when the Newcastle Knights take on the Brisbane Broncos this Saturday at Suncorp Stadium.

Last weekend's game saw 18-year-old Sione score an impressive hat-trick, when he filled in on the wing against the Warriors at Hunter Stadium.

“He’s a good young talent and is good to work with because he knows his role and that’s what makes it easier for me,” Leilua said after Friday’s training session.

“I just feed him the ball and he does his job on the edge.”

Leilua, who has scored nine tries this season, credits the team's forwards for providing the groundwork for his opportunities.

“When the forwards lay that platform for us, its makes it easier for the backs to get in and do our work and get on the front foot with them,” the 22-year-old said.

It is the teams final away trip and Leilua looks forward to seeing the red and blue support at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.

“I don’t usually pay attention to the crowd, but when we do have fans up there, you can feel it when you hear that roar when you score a try or something,” he said.

“It’s good when you have fans up there.”
