Knights v Warriors: Close the Gap Round
The Newcastle Knights have embraced the Close the Gap round, celebrated in its sixth year in the NRL, with the team set to wear the special edition Indigenous jerseys as well as activities on game day planned to promote the Close the Gap message.
One of the primary goals of the round is to help tackle the life expectancy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
Indigenous Australians can expect to live 10-17 years less than non-Indigenous Australians.
Awabakal is the match day partner for Round 23 at Hunter Stadium and will host a number of activities and programs on game day to raise awareness of Close the Gap.
Look out for the Awabakal Close the Gap marquee on the McDonalds Family Hill with information and activities that aim to spread the close the Gap message to Indigenous and non-Indigenous fans.
Match day entertainment will also feature performances from the Millabah Dance Group and kids can get their faces painted at the Western stadium entrance.
