The Newcastle Knights’ NSW Cup side has surged back into the top eight following a comprehensive 38-12 victory over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at No.2 Sportsground on Sunday.

Inspired by a double to fullback Nathan Ross, the Knights cruised to a comfortable win to lock in eighth position on the competition ladder after 15 rounds.

The men in red and blue led 16-6 at the halftime break, before crossing for a further 22 points in the second half to record their second consecutive victory.

While Ross was the Knights' standout performer, the star No.1 was also well supported up by fellow backs Michael Dobson, Chanel Mata'utia and goal kicking winger Josh Mantellato.

Newcastle will look to maintain their form when they host the second-placed Wentworthville Magpies at No.2 Sportsground next Sunday from 3pm.
