Newcastle Knights centre Joey Leilua has been discharged from hospital on Monday, following a precautionary overnight stay for a direct knock to his throat in Sunday’s loss to the Wests Tigers at Hunter Stadium.

Leilua has been cleared of a fracture to his larynx but will need to be cleared by a specialist before he can return.

In other injury news, Adam Cuthbertson remains in a knee brace with a medial ligament injury but is on track to return between Round 16-18.

Timana Tahu (knee) and Jake Mamo (back) were scheduled to play in Round 13 but were given another week and should now return in Round 14 while Chanel Mata’utia should be available after overcoming a rib injury.

Marvin Filipo also edges closer to his return from an arm injury and could play in Round 15 pending a medical clearance.

The NRL team had a recovery session on Monday morning while NSW Cup trained at Wests Mayfield, as preparations commence for Round 14 against the Sydney Roosters/Newtown Jets in Sydney.
