Newcastle Knights forward Korbin Sims was unsuccessful in having his careless high tackle downgraded at the NRL Judiciary on Wednesday night.

Sims pleaded guilty to the charge but appealed to have the grading reduced from two to one. Sims would have missed one week regardless of the appeal but now has 58 carry over points.

Sims, who was named on a 17-man bench for Round 9 against the Penrith Panthers, will miss Sunday's game with a replacement to be announced.

EARLIER: Newcastle Knights forward Korbin Sims has been charged with a grade two careless high tackle following Saturday night's Pacific Test for Fiji against Samoa.

Sims will miss one game regardless of taking an early plea or accepting the charge. The Club will make a decision by noon on Tuesday.
