Newcastle Knights game day trainer, Danny Buderus caught up with the players in the sheds after Sunday's inspiring 30-0 win over the Sharks.

The Round 4 home game at Hunter Stadium marked the Club's first victory of the season, with the team dedicating its efforts to injured teammate, Alex McKinnon.

Captian Kurt Gidley was particularly pleased with the team's improvement in defence

"It was an emotional day, but we had to get the job done somehow and we did today," he said.

Meanwhile, Michael Dobson enjoyed his first win at home since joining the Knights at the beginning of the season.

"First win, but hopefully one of many," Dobson said after the match.

Korbin Sims was also thrilled to share the Club's win with its fans at home and said the community's support for their injured teammate was overwhelming.

"It was unreal to get the first win of the season, especially at home," he said.

"We had a massive crowd here today and everyone was supporting us as a Club, and Alex McKinnon as well, so it was really good to see all the support here today."
