The nib Newcastle Knights are calling on members and fans to be part of a special ANZAC Round tribute this Sunday, with a community March to the Match set to honour the region’s proud military history.
Beginning at New Lambton Bowling Club, the march will see supporters come together ahead of kick-off, walking side-by-side to McDonald Jones Stadium in a show of respect and remembrance.
The initiative pays tribute to the legacy of the 35th Battalion, which holds deep historical significance in the Hunter.
In 1916, the 35th and 36th Battalions marched through Newcastle as part of the very first ANZAC Day commemoration - a moment that will be reflected in this gathering.
Participants are encouraged to wear the club’s green and brown jersey, as the group makes its way to the stadium.
The march will conclude in the Fan Zone ahead of the day’s ANZAC Round fixture.
A short address will also be delivered prior to departure by Jye Martyn from RSL NSW, highlighting the significance of the battalion and the importance of continuing to honour those who served.
