As it happened: Wests Tigers topple Knights; Titans dominate Eels

Titans fullback Keano Kini has led his side to a historic victory over the Eels at CommBank Stadium in the opening game of Sunday's double-header.

The visitors piled on the points in a 52-10 triumph to secure their first win at the venue and consign Parramatta to their biggest defeat at the stadium.

Jayden Campbell, Phillip Sami and Sialetili Faeamani each scored doubles, while Kini had 263 running metres and four line breaks in the dominant victory. It was only the second time the Titans have cracked 50 points in their 20-year history.

Eels v Titans - Round 6, 2026

The Eels have been battling an injury crisis in the opening months of the season and they were dealt a double blow on Sunday when Sam Tuivaiti and Kelma Tuilagi each suffered head knocks and were placed in the HIA protocol.

The Wests Tigers then rounded out the weekend with a drought-breaking victory over the Knights at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

The win was their first at the ground in 603 days, with Sunia Turuva scoring a hat-trick in a 42-22 triumph.

The hosts enjoyed repeated success down their right edge as they took advantage of the absence of Knights centre Bradman Best.

The Tigers now sit second on the ladder and have won three in a row for the first time since early 2018.

Wests Tigers: Round 6

Knights: Round 6

Wests Tigers v Knights - Round 6, 2026

Full-time: The Tigers have won their first game at Campbelltown in 603 days in emphatic fashion, running in eight tries to secure a dominant 42-22 victory over the Knights. Sunia Turuva scored a hat-trick as the Tigers right edge starred in front of a raucous home crowd. Adam Doueihi and Api Koroisau pulled the strings, with fullback Jahream Bula also starring for the hosts. Wests Tigers 42 - Knights 22.

Trey Mooney Try

79th minute: Newcastle have added another late try. This time it was Trey Mooney who ran a nice line to burst through a big gap and score under the posts. It's too little too late for the visitors but it should be a big confidence boost leading into next week's clash with the Roosters. Wests Tigers 42 - Knights 22.

Fletcher Hunt Try

77th minute: Fletcher Hunt has scored a late try for the Knights, outleaping opposite fullback Jahream Bula before throwing a dummy and scoring the four-pointer. Wests Tigers 42 - Knights 16.

75th minute: We're off to the Bunker with Royce Hunt coming close to scoring for the Tigers. The forward was initially short before momentum took him over the line, but the Newcastle defenders got underneath him and held him up. Wests Tigers 42 - Knights 10.

73rd minute: A little bit of shine has been taken off an impressive Tigers performance, with Samuela Fainu leaving the field with a knee injury. Given the margin, he will not return with medical staff opting not to risk further injury. On the field, the hosts show they are not going to switch off early and have denied a Newcastle attacking opportunity. Wests Tigers 42 - Knights 10.

Terrell May Try

66th minute: The Tigers are flexing their muscles now and Newcastle have no answers for an attack that is humming on all cylinders. Halfback Adam Doueihi was dragged down just short of the line, the Knights defence was stretched and Terrell May ran through a big hole to score under the posts. Wests Tigers 42 - Knights 10.

Jahream Bula 2nd Try

62nd minute: The Knights continue to hurt their own chances of a comeback. Newcastle spilled the ball almost immediately after scoring and the Tigers were quick to pounce. The hosts attacked down the right flank yet again, Sunia Turuva somehow managed to stay in the field of play before passing back inside to Jahream Bula for his second try of the afternoon. Newcastle have been dealt another blow, with forward Tyson Frizell ruled out for the remainder of the contest with a rib injury. Wests Tigers 36 - Knights 10.

Dane Gagai Try

59th minute: Dane Gagai has pounced on a loose Tigers pass and the Knights have got one back. Jeral Skelton cleaned up a grubber and was being tackle by Dom Young in his own in-goal when he attempted to offload the ball to Heamasi Makasini. The centre couldn't reel it in and Gagai was on the spot to ground the ball. Wests Tigers 32 - Knights 10.

Sunia Turuva 3rd Try

55th minute: Sunia Turuva has a hat-trick as the Tigers continue to enjoy success down the right edge. Newcastle reshuffled their left-edge defence at half-time and it has improved after the break but the Tigers eventually broke them down. Adam Doueihi produced an excellent cutout pass for his winger, who held off a Dylan Lucas cover tackle to score in the corner. Wests Tigers 32 - Knights 4.

47th minute: The Tigers have lodged a Captain's Challenge, arguing an offload was touched by a Knights player on the last tackle. Replays show Greg Marzhew's fingers touched the ball, triggering a fresh set of six for the hosts. Tigers on the attack and looking to extend their lead. Wests Tigers 28 - Knights 4.

Fainu puts a massive fend on Smith

43rd minute: The pressure builds, with the Tigers forcing a line dropout. The hosts came close a couple of times throughout the set but they were held out by desperate Newcastle defence. The Knights successfully executed a short dropout and they have a chance to catch their breath. Wests Tigers 28 - Knights 4.

Kick-off: We are back underway and Newcastle have the wind behind their backs as they look to reel in a 24-point deficit. The Tigers were exceptional in the opening 40, but we've already seen multiple times this weekend what happens when you take your foot off the gas. The half has started well for the hosts, with the Knights turning the ball over in the first set of six. Wests Tigers 28 - Knights 4.

Jahream Bula Try

Half-time: There is no denying the Tigers this time, with the hosts continuing to run rampant down the right edge. Jahream Bula got on the outside of Wilson De Courcey to slice through the defensive line and score the try in the final play of the first half. It was a dominant 40 minutes from Benji Marshall's men, with four of their five tries coming down the right flank. Newcastle have plenty of work to do after the break if they are to get back into the contest. Wests Tigers 28 - Knights 4.

37th minute: We're off to the Bunker after the Tigers attempted to pull off another spectacular try. Patrick Herbert was in the thick of the action again, producing an unconventional pass to keep the play alive on the last. The ball found its way into Heamasi Makasini's hands, who took on the defence on his way to the try line. Makasini hit the deck and advanced the ball forward, but the Bunker ruled the tackle was complete before he reached the try-line and the Knights breathe a big sigh of relief. Wests Tigers 22 - Knights 0.

Patrick Herbert Try

35th minute: Patrick Herbert set up a try earlier in the half, now he's got one of his own after the Tigers capitalised on a big overlap down the right edge. Adam Doueihi shifted to Jahream Bula, who sent Herbert on his way. The centre dummied to Sunia Turuva and sliced past the fullback to score. Wests Tigers 22 - Knights 4.

Turuva goose steps through the line

33rd minute: Sunia Turuva is having an afternoon. The winger burst through the Knights kick chase before linking up with Adam Doueihi to put the Tigers on the attack. The hosts came close to extending their lead but Newcastle's defence was up to the task and came up with an important stop. Wests Tigers 16 - Knights 0.

Dominic Young Try

28th minute: We're off to the Bunker after Dom Young produced an acrobatic effort to score in the corner. The winger was tackled by Jahream Bula and was in the process of being taken into touch when he twisted his body, raised his arm and grounded the ball behind his head. It was a spectacular finish and gets Newcastle back in this contest. Wests Tigers 16 - Knights 4.

20th minute: The Knights looked to have hit back in unusual circumstances but the Bunker has found a knock on from Fletcher Sharpe and the Tigers survive a big scare. Fullback Jahream Bula misjudged a kick that held up in the wind, the Knights regathered and produced a second kick. Bula had the ball knocked out by Sharpe while trying to reel it in, with Sharpe collecting the loose ball and grounding it over the line. The playmaker, however, was ruled to have knocked it on in the contest with Bula. Wests Tigers 16 - Knights 0.

Sunia Turuva 2nd Try

18th minute: Patrick Herbert hasn't played in the NRL since 2022 but it hasn't taken him long to make an impact in his return to the field. The veteran leapt to catch a pass, was tackled by a defender and threw a miraculous one-handed overhead pass to Sunia Turuva as he fell to the ground. Turuva had an unchecked path to the try-line and scored his second of the game. Wests Tigers 16 - Knights 0.

Apisai Koroisau Try

13th minute: The fans at Campbelltown Sports Stadium are on their feet after Api Koroisau extended his side's lead. The hooker threw a dummy and burrowed over from dummy half to score the Tigers second of the afternoon. Wests Tigers 12 - Knights 0.

Sunia Turuva Try

5th minute: It didn't take the hosts long to capitalise and the action keeps happening in that same corner of the field. Greg Marzhew had crept in field to mark Jahream Bula, Adam Doueihi spotted an unmarked Sunia Turuva and hit him with a superb cutout pass for the opening points of the game. Wests Tigers 6 - Knights 0.

3rd minute: Early chance for the Tigers after Wilson De Courcey was penalised for an escort. Greg Marzhew caught the bomb and was racing down field with no Tigers in his path but play was called back after Sunia Turuva's path to the ball was ruled to have been obstructed. Wests Tigers 0 - Knights 0.

Kick-off: We are underway at a sold-out Campbelltown Sports Stadium, with Newcastle kicking off what should be a high-quality match up between two of the surprise packets of this season. Wests Tigers 0 - Knights 0.

Late Mail

Wests Tigers: Benji Marshall has rejigged his backline on gameday after Faaletino Tavana was ruled out with hamstring tightness. Heamasi Maksini shifts from centre to wing, Patrick Herbert comes into the centres for his first NRL game since 2022 and Tony Sukkar comes on to the bench. With winger Luke Laulilii banned for one match for his mid-air tackle on Bailey Simonsson last Monday, Jeral Skelton comes in for his third game of the season. Halfback Adam Doueihi has scored five tries in his last seven games against the Knights.

Knights: Newcastle will line up 1-19 after the squad was locked in on Sunday afternoon. After making his debut against the Raiders, 20-year-old Wilson De Courcey retains his place in the centres Bradman Best (groin) sidelined. Coach Justin Holbrook has otherwise named an unchanged 17, with Cody Hopwood also included on the six-man bench. The Knights have won seven of their last eight games against Wests Tigers.

Eels v Titans at CommBank Stadium

Titans: Round 6

Eels: Round 6

Eels v Titans - Round 6, 2026

Full-time: The siren has sounded on a comprehensive Gold Coast victory, who have notched their first win at CommBank Stadium. The 52-10 margin marked Parramatta's biggest loss at the venue and the home fans have voiced their displeasure with the performance. Titans fullback Keano Kini was superb, while halves Lachlan Ilias and Jayden Campbell continue to build an impressive partnership. Eels 10 - Titans 52.

Phillip Sami 2nd Try

76th minute: The points keep coming for the Titans and they have now racked up a half century. Five-eighth Lachlan Ilias produced a well-placed kick for winger Phil Sami, who raced through and scored his second of the day. The veteran now needs just 12 tries to surpass Anthony Don's club record of 85 tries. Eels 10 - Titans 52.

Jayden Campbell 2nd Try

73rd minute: It's been a week to remember for Titans halfback Jayden Campbell, who became a dad when his partner gave birth. Now he has a double, pouncing on a Joash Papalii pass to take the intercept and run 88 metres to score the try. Eels 10 - Titans 46.

Sialetili Faeamani 2nd Try

68th minute: The Titans are well on their way to victory now. A quick play the ball prompted a shift to the right edge, Jojo Fifita slipped through a tackle and offloaded to Sialetili Faeamani to score his first career double. Eels 10 - Titans 40.

67th minute: It's Parramatta's turn to lodge a Captain's Challenge after Luca Moreti spilled the ball. The Eels argued an early tackle, but replays clearly show Moreti had the ball before he was hit. The forward has only just entered the fray as Parramatta's 18th man. Eels 10 - Titans 34.

Josh Addo-Carr Try

65th minute: This time there's no denying the Eels, Josh Addo-Carr leaping through the air to clutch a Ronald Volkman bomb and score the try. They're still a long way back but we've seen some incredible comebacks this year so you can't write the Eels off. Meanwhile, Parramatta forward Kelma Tuilagi has failed an HIA, meaning they can activate their HIA if Jason Ryles chooses to do so. Eels 10 - Titans 34.

60th minute: A special moment for the Titans with Adam Christensen injected into the contest for his NRL debut. Meanwhile, Gold Coast have lodged a Captain's Challenge after being penalised for an escort. The appeal is quickly dismissed and Parramatta have a fresh set of six on the attack. Eels 6 - Titans 34.

Phillip Sami Try

58th minute: The home fans may be disappointed but the Titans are putting on a show at CommBank Stadium this afternoon. Parramatta were on the attack before a pass went to ground. Jojo Fifita scooped it up, ran 40 metres down the field before heading towards the centre of the ground. Phil Sami was there in support and raced away down the left sideline to score another long-range effort. Eels 6 - Titans 34.

55th minute: Parramatta are not going down without a fight and they look to have got one back. Joash Papalii produced a towering bomb, Araz Nanva soared through the air to take the ball, before offloading to Papalii for the try. Replays, however, show multiple chasers including Nanva were offside and the try has been disallowed. Eels 6 - Titans 30.

Cooper Bai Try

50th minute: The Titans continue to assert their dominance, with Oliver Pascoe laying on another try. The young dummy half hit Cooper Bai with a short ball, and the promising forward did the rest to beat multiple Eels defenders and slam the ball down. It's the first time Gold Coast have scored 30 points against the Eels since 2016. Eels 6 - Titans 30

Jayden Campbell Try

44th minute: Having absorbed some early pressure, the Titans have produced another long-range effort. Oliver Pascoe darted from dummy half, before linking up with fullback Keano Kini. Jayden Campbell was there to support and just held off a chasing Josh Addo-Carr to score the first points of the second half. Eels 6 - Titans 24.

43rd minute: An early opportunity for the Eels after Jayden Campbell threw an errant pass inside his own 10-metre line. The error led to a line dropout, which sailed 70 metres and limited Parramatta's chance to strike. While they worked back into the red zone, a forward pass on the last ended the attacking chance. Eels 6 - Titans 18.

Kick-off: We are back with Parramatta looking to strike first as they attempt to reel in the Titans. There were promising signs late in the half for the hosts and Mitchell Moses shapes as the key figure in their comeback bid. Eels 6 - Titans 18.

Half-time: A chaotic end to a chaotic half of footy, with Parramatta receiving a penalty as the siren sounded to have one last crack at closing the deficit. The space was there but the Will Penisini kick was off the mark, it was easily cleaned up by the Titans and they will take a 12-point lead into the sheds. Gold Coast were sensational in the opening 20 minutes, Parramatta had their chances in the second 20 but they could only cross for one try. Eels 6 - Titans 18.

Will Penisini Try

32nd minute: The Eels have got one back and it's come just moments after the Titans missed a golden opportunity at the other end. Parramatta made the most, with Mitchell Moses laying on a right-edge break before Will Penisini juggled the last pass, stumbled and eventually got the ball down in the corner. Meanwhile, Sam Tuivaiti has been ruled out for the match following the head knock a few minutes ago. Eels 6 - Titans 18.

28th minute: We've had a pause in proceedings after Sam Tuivaiti suffered a head knock while attempting to tackle Titans forward Arama Hau. The Eel collided with Hau's hip and he has now left the field for an HIA. Jack de Belin enters the fray as his replacement. In positive news, Dylan Walker has passed his HIA and returned to the field. Eels 0 - Titans 18.

27th minute: This time it's the Eels turn to produce an important defensive stand. A Parramatta error put the visitors back on the attack and they threatened to strike down both flanks. The opportunity came to an end when winger Phil Sami was tackled in the corner before being penalised for throwing the ball while held. Eels 0 - Titans 18.

24th minute: Another important defensive play for the Titans after Eels centre Will Penisini burst through an AJ Brimson tackle and came close to scoring before the cover defence forced an error. Eels 0 - Titans 18.

Big contact as Fifita crunches Moses

20th minute: The Titans are aiming up in defence now, Jojo Fifita putting a big shot on Mitchell Moses to force an error. Parramatta were on the attack after earning a penalty, but Fifita's big hit put a stop to that pretty quickly. In more tough news for the hosts, Dylan Walker has left the field for an HIA while Junior Paulo looks to be receiving some treatment for a knee issue on the sidelines. Eels 0 - Titans 18.

Sialetili Faeamani Try

16th minute: Josh Hannay's men have brought their A-game today and they have a third in six minutes. Keano Kini caught a bomb on his own goal-line, tracked across field, sliced past a disjointed kick chase before setting off for the try line. He linked up with Phil Sami, who was dragged down metres short of the line, but not before he could offload to Sialetili Faeamani to complete a spectacular 100m effort. Eels 0 - Titans 18.

AJ Brimson Try

13th minute: The Titans have gone back-to-back to silence a stunned crowd at CommBank Stadium. A penalty for a high tackle in the set following the kick-off handed the visitors improved field position and Keano Kini was again in the thick of the action. The fullback danced past Mitchell Moses before beating the fullback and offloading to AJ Brimson for the try. Eels 0 - Titans 12.

Arama Hau Try

10th minute: The visitors have made the most of the let off a few minutes ago, rolling down the field before striking down the right edge. The Titans ran the ball down the short-side on the last tackle, Keano Kini linking up with Arama Hau who threw a dummy and beat two defenders to slam the ball down. Eels 0 - Titans 6.

5th minute: It's been an entertaining start to the contest, with the Eels shifting the ball from sideline to sideline. Josh Addo-Carr made a break down the left edge before Mitchell Moses looked to force a line dropout with a grubber a couple of plays later. The chasers were offside, however, and Gold Coast survive an early scare. Eels 0 - Titans 0.

Smart work from Kini

Kick-off: We are underway in the glorious Sunday sunshine at CommBank Stadium as both sides look to bounce back from last-start losses. Gold Coast will have first use of the ball as they chase their first win at the venue. Parramatta fell to the Tigers in a thriller on Easter Monday and they are desperate to return to form on their home turf. Eels 0 - Titans 0.

Late Mail

Eels: One minor tweak for the Eels on game day with Lorenzo Talataina in the mix for an NRL debut after being added to the six-man bench in place of Teancum Brown. A horror injury run continues with winger Bailey Simonsson (ankle), centre Sean Russell (concussion) and five-eighth Jonah Pezet (hamstring) all missing this week. Araz Nanva will step up and make his debut on the wing while Will Penisini is back from a groin injury in the centres and five-eighth Ronald Volkman plays his first NRL game since Round 2 last year.

Titans: No further changes in the 90-minute update after prop Klese Haas was ruled out on Saturday after failing to overcome a minor leg injury. Despite being optimistic the front rower would be good to go, Gold Coast coach Josh Hannay has been forced to shake-up his forward pack, promoting Kurtis Morrin to start in his sixth appearance for the club. Adam Christensen has joined the 19-man squad for a potential debut, as has Zane Harrison with Jett Liu also suffering a knee injury during this week's preparations. Jaylan de Groot has been named on the six-man interchange in place of Max Feagai, who will play his first Qld Cup game of the season to get some footy under his belt after missing the past fortnight.
