All new female-only Come-and-Try experience announced

The nib Newcastle Knights, in partnership with the NRL, NSWRL and Hunter Junior Rugby League, are proud to support Girls Take on Rugby League Day a fun, inclusive come-and-try experience designed especially for girls aged 5-12 years.

Taking place at the Newcastle Permanent Centre of Excellence, the day is all about giving young girls the opportunity to experience rugby league in a safe, welcoming and confidence-building environment.

This exciting come-and-try event is perfect for girls who are brand new to the game or who would like to have a go before registering with a local club.

Participants will take part in age-specific sessions, delivered by experienced NRL Game Development Officers.

U5-U8s Start Time: 9am
U8-U12s Start Time: 9:30am

Under 5s - Under 7s

A non-contact session focused on learning basic rugby league skills, playing games and building confidence, all while having fun in a supportive setting.

Under 8s - Under 12s

This session introduces the fundamentals of tackling in a safe and structured way, alongside a range of core rugby league skills. Activities are designed to develop technique, confidence and enjoyment of the game.

Please note: headgear and a mouthguard are highly recommended for this session.

This day is targeted towards new registrations or girls wanting to try rugby league for the first time. It is not intended for players who have been participating in rugby league for more than one year.
