Cooking with heart: Knights unite for families in need

The Newcastle Knights recently brought the spirit of Knights Strong to life through a special Meals from the Heart experience, an evening that brought together our valued sponsors, club leaders, and players in support of families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW.

Hosted at the Ronald McDonald House Newcastle, the event saw sponsors roll up their sleeves alongside Knights players and incoming CEO, Peter Parr to cook and share a meal with families doing it tough.

More than just preparing food, the night was about connection, compassion, and community, the very values at the heart of Knights Strong.

Knights Strong, the community arm of The Wests Group, is dedicated to empowering people and organisations across the Hunter through initiatives that promote wellbeing, inclusion, and resilience.

The evening also highlighted the Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW ‘Building a Bigger Heart campaign’, a bold expansion project designed to ensure no family in need is ever turned away. As part of this project, the Ronald McDonald House Newcastle is adding 11 new self-contained family units, creating a place where more families can stay together and remain close to essential medical care during their toughest times.

The $2 million pledge from Knights Strong is helping bring this vision to life, alongside the support of local organisations and community partners working hand in hand for this important cause.

We are grateful to our sponsors who joined this special evening, connecting directly with the community causes at the heart of the Knights and strengthening the bond between the Club, our partners, and the community we represent.
