Frizell extends with Knights

The nib Newcastle Knights are excited to confirm Club stalwart Tyson Frizell has signed a National Rugby League contract extension, agreeing to remain with the Club for another season.

Frizell, 33, has given his all since making his NRL debut in 2011.

The tireless forward has competed at every contest in every training session for over 15 years.

He is renowned for emptying his tank in every one of his 276 NRL games, 23 Internationals for Wales, Australia and Tonga and 16 NSW Blues Origin caps, in a remarkable rugby league career.

Fittingly, last Friday, the proud husband and father of three, led his teammates onto McDonald James Stadium in his 100th Newcastle Knights appearance.

nib Newcastle Knights Head of Recruitment Peter O’Sullivan said his extension is wonderful news.

“We are delighted Tyson is staying on for another year," O’Sullivan said.

“His experience, energy, and work ethic will be vital for the emerging edge players and several new middles we have joining the Club.

“Tyson is in terrific condition; despite playing and training with such velocity for over 15 years, his longevity is a testament to his true professionalism.

“With the ability to play middle and edge forward, he it gives the squad a strong balance and his extension is a perfect way to celebrate his 100 games at the Newcastle Knights.”
