The nib Newcastle Knights have today confirmed, effective 1 November 2025, Wests Group Chief Executive Officer Philip Gardner will hand over the management of the Knights CEO responsibilities to Peter Parr.
Parr joined the Club as Director Football in 2022, as part of a broader senior leadership succession strategy. As Newcastle Knights CEO, Peter will lead the Club’s strategic direction and operational priorities.

Parr speaks on CEO appointment and vision for the Club
As part of this planned transition, Chris James will replace Peter as Director of Football, effective 1 November 2025.
Chris joined the Knights as GM Football Operations in January 2025, as another key part of the long-term leadership succession planning. His football knowledge and leadership capabilities will ensure the Knights continue momentum across the Club’s football operations.
Peter and Chris have worked closely together since Chris’ arrival, providing a strong foundation for continued alignment and stability beyond this transitional period.
These appointments reflect a carefully considered and long-term leadership succession plan, endorsed by the Wests Board of Directors and reinforcing their commitment to strong, stable, and aligned leadership across The Wests Group.
