The nib Newcastle Knights NRLW side have defeated the North Queensland Cowboys 26-6 at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Saturday night.

The red and blue posted their first win of the season with a four tries to one result away from home.

Ahead of a huge Voice for Mining Round next Sunday night, the NRLW side will return home to take on the Warriors following the men's fixture.

How it played out:

The match kicked off in beautiful conditions for rugby league in North Queensland.

The Knights were strong defensively in the opening stages keeping out a number of Cowboys attacks.
