Knights Secure Young Guns

The nib Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce the signing of exciting young front rower Wil Sullivan, until at least the end of the 2028 National Rugby League season.

Sullivan, who recently turned 21, relocated to Newcastle last week and commenced training with his new Knights teammates.

nib Newcastle Knights Head of Recruitment Peter O’Sullivan said Sullivan is an impressive young forward with a big future.

“Wil brings great leg speed, aggression and a carry that will suit our squad," O’Sullivan said.

“He is a junior Queensland representative player, who will challenge for NRL spots at some stage throughout the year.

“Wil proved he was an NRL player in the making during an NRL trial in 2024, unfortunately a ruptured spleen and a syndesmosis injury curtailed his season to just five Qld Cup games last year, it was the quality of those performances that was impressive.

“Wil is a country boy from Laidley who has progressed nicely through the ranks at the North Queensland Cowboys, he will fit into our system perfectly and we are very excited to welcome him to the Newcastle community.”

Meanwhile, after an impressive preseason of training with the NRL squad and a strong start to the 2025 season, promising youngster Elijah Salesa-Leaumoana has also been rewarded with a contract upgrade, seeing him come into the Knights Top 30 in 2026.
