Pathways Wrap-up: Big wins in the opening round

In this week's Pathways Wrap-up, the nib Newcastle Knights Junior Representative squads kicked off their respective campaigns at Cessnock Sportsground.

The two male teams took on the Parramatta Eels while the female squads played the South Sydney Rabbitohs across the day at Cessnock.

See the highlights below:

SG Ball Cup (Men's U19's) | Knights 10-36 Eels

The SG Ball Cup side were defeated by the Eels in the final game at Cessnock Sportsground.

The team were beaten six tries to two in the opening round with Aidan Gow and Noah Sefo the two try-scorers for the Knights.

The Under 19's will travel to play the North Sydney Bears in Round 2 down in Sydney.

Tarsha Gale Cup (Women's U19's) | Knights 42-4 Rabbitohs

The Tarsha Gale Cup side achieved a huge opening day win with a dominant performance against the Rabbitohs.

Last year's Grand Finalists started in impressive form running in eight tries to one, including a hat-trick from centre Summer Dowell.

Saxbii Shaw and Molly Pittman both scored doubles while Brandy Simpson also got her name on the scoresheet.

Harold Matthews Cup (Men's U17's) | Knights 20-24 Eels

The Harold Matthews Cup squad were heartbreakingly defeated at the death against the Eels on Saturday.

Leading by two points with a minute to play on the clock, Parramatta crossed the stripe late in the contest to take home the two points.

Impressive in defeat, the side showed positive signs with Callum Elsley, Chase Butler and Riley Rostron posting tries.

Lisa Fiaola Cup (Women's U17's) | Knights 48-0 Rabbitohs

The Lisa Fiaola Cup side kicked off the day with a huge victory over the Rabbitohs.

The forwards led from the front, terrorizing the Rabbitohs defence as the side ran in nine tries to nil.

Lily Porter and Keira Callaghan both got over the line twice for a double, while Maddison-Renae Seumanutafa, Ruby Wilhelmus, Rubie Drake-Brockman, Ella Koen and Stephanie Holden all notched four-pointers.
