Knights fight out gutsy win over the Gold Coast

The nib Newcastle Knights NRLW side have defeated the Gold Coast Titans 22-10 at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After a grinding affair against the competition leaders, the red and blue defended strongly plus showed trademark resilience after going down to 12 players for a stage of the game.

A double to Abigail Roache and a late solo try from Tamika Upton were highlights as the side secured a crucial two points.

HOW IT PLAYED OUT:

1st min - The match kicked off in front of 12,889 Members and supporters as part of Member Appreciation Round.

15th min - Abigail Roache continued her impressive form to storm through a gap in the Titans defence and open the scoring.

19th min - The Knights scored another try shortly after with Olivia Higgins barging her way over for her second try in as many weeks.

21st min - The Titans hit back through Emily Bass on the wing

34th min - On the stroke of half-time, Abigail Roache showed her speed to post her second.

The centre stole an intercept to race 70 metres to improve the Knights lead as the half-time siren sounded

35th min - The Knights took a 16-4 lead into the break.

41st min - The Knights were reduced to 12 when Shanice Parker was sent to the sin-bin.

42nd min - The Titans were next to score when Sienna Lofipo crashed over.

64th min - Having showcased plenty of resolve on the defensive end, superstar fullback Tamika Upton lit up McDonald Jones Stadium with a brilliant solo try.

Upton burst through the Titans defence and rounded the fullback to score under the posts.
