Register your interest for Level 1 & 2 Sports Trainer or Team Manager roles

The nib Newcastle Knights are accepting Expressions of Interest (EoI) for any qualified Level 1 & 2 Sports Trainers or Team Managers interested in joining our Pathways program.

Please note these roles are for people genuinely interested in Sports Trainer and Manager positions only – these roles are not suitable for aspiring coaches.  

These roles are on a volunteer basis only, to acquire new beneficial experiences and skills within our teams. Register now. 

There is the potential for career progression into paid roles within our Junior Representative Pathways squads and beyond for suitable candidates.

With Knights Pathways Programs on the expansion, the Knights are looking to engage new volunteer staff to our system.

On a trial basis, we will invite suitable nominees to attend training sessions with our Academy program. The anticipated commitment hours would be approximately 3 – 6 hours per week for 9 weeks, commencing in July 2024.

We will then look to appoint suitable candidates (honorarium payments available) for available positions within our Junior Representative teams.

These roles would commence in November 2024 and run until May 2025.

Sports Trainers – Level 1 & 2 (Orange, Yellow & Blue)

You will be responsible for:

  • Training setup to the standards required by the Knights.
  • Strap players for prevention of injury and stability prior to training.
  • Monitor players during training regarding potential injuries.
  • Assess players who are injured during training and give initial treatment.
  • Filling/re-filling water bottles and providing water for players during training sessions.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • FAO Level 1 minimum – compulsory
  • Working with Children Check – compulsory
  • FAO Level 2 favourable but not required
  • Experience operating in a team environment

Standards of Behaviour and Responsibilities:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of confidentiality
  • Self-motivated with an ability to motivate others
  • Professional appearance suitable for the relevant environment
  • Highly trustworthy – particularly pertaining to equipment and resources provided by the Knights.

Team Managers

You will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with all team members, parents and coaches to ensure the athletes are informed of training schedules and locations.
  • Communicating any schedule changes to players, parents and staff.
  • Ensuring all athletes are wearing appropriate training clothing and equipment as per club policy.
  • Ensuring the facility is left clean, tidy and locked after the completion of all training sessions.
  • Distributing team apparel as required

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Working with Children Check – compulsory
  • Previous Team Manager experience

Standards of Behaviour and Responsibilities:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of confidentiality
  • Self-motivated with an ability to motivate others
  • Professional appearance suitable for the relevant environment
