Knights become Youth Ambassadors for three years in a row

Congratulations to Talleira Swain and Noah Doig on being selected as the 2023 Male and Female Youth Ambassadors at the NRL Indigenous Youth Summit.

The NRL Indigenous Leadership Youth Summit is an annual weeklong leadership camp held in conjunction with NRL Indigenous Round.

Students are selected from the NRL School to Work program, based on their outstanding leadership qualities within their school and community. This year's nib Newcastle Knights' representatives were Noah Doig, Rome Toomey, Talliera Swain, and Lailah Clarke.

This is our Club's third consecutive year as Youth Ambassadors and it is the first year that both Ambassadors have represented the same Club.

THE SUMMIT PROCESS

Throughout the week, participants engage in an array of workshops focused on leadership and cultural development. This entailed the opportunity to attend discussions with influential Aboriginal figures. This year, Stan Grant and Greg Inglis joined the event.

During the Youth Summit, participants are guided through an extensive application process to become the male and female Youth Ambassadors for the year. This process involved submitting a written application and, upon success, being selected among the top 10 candidates.

The final stage involved participating in a panel interview, leading to the selection of the four ultimate participants. These final four participants deliver speeches at a corporate luncheon, attended by the ARL Indigenous Council and their fellow Youth Summit attendees.
