The nib Newcastle Knights endured another heart-pumping game, this time against the North Queensland Cowboys finishing 18-16.
Head Coach Adam O'Brien and forward Tyson Frizell spoke after the game on the overall performance and Kalyn Ponga's return.
ON THE PERFORMANCE
"There's way too many errors in our game at the moment. It's good getting pats on the back for effort, and they're still fighting hard at the end of the game. But it can't be enough... I thought we were really sloppy with the ball in the first half," O'Brien said.
"We didn't mount any pressure. I thought they gave us enough opportunities in the first half.
Match Highlights: Cowboys v Knights
"Discipline with the ball probably let us down and in these conditions, it affected us towards the back end of the game," Frizell said.
"The Cowboys were good tonight and we just weren't there ready to match them. It was costly mistakes across the park and it cost us and put us under too much pressure. The conditions are a little bit different but it's no excuse."
Marzhew leaves them in his wake
ON KP'S RETURN
"He looked dangerous. Our connections with him will get better. There's some timing stuff there but you know, the more times you touch the ball the better we will look.
That's exciting for both sides (of attack), as well. We don't want to lock him into one side," O'Brien said.
Ponga sends Young over
"I anticipated a pretty big response from the Cowboys. I knew the week that they would have had and I thought it would go down to the wire and we wanted him out there in the clutch sort of moments in the game.
Young can't reel it in
"I thought it was a big ask for how long he sort of been out to come in and play the minutes up here. So we thought we'd delay the start a little bit and then we'll have him at the back end."
