Best: 'It's been a crazy journey'

Having first ran onto the NRL field as a teenager back in 2019, nib Newcastle Knights centre Bradman Best is approaching his first milestone in the game.

Nicknamed 'the Brick', Best is a couple games away from cracking 50 NRL games.

The powerful outside-back became the second youngest debutant in Knights history when he played his first game back in Round 23 of 2019 at 18 years and 15 days. Listen on Apple and Spotify.

Fast forward to 2023, Best reflected on his time in the NRL on the KNIGHTS // HQ Podcast and his journey so far, plus his fresh approach to the new season.

"It's been a crazy journey and definitely so many learnings along the way," Best said.

"My debut year was crazy.

"Obviously injuries are all part of it, but (my) mindset more than anything (has become important)

"I feel like if I'm thinking about footy too much, or have a bad game. I can get in a weird way of over training and over thinking.

"I think you just really need to have a balanced lifestyle aswell. Hanging around a good core group of mates (helps).

"I'm very grateful and appreciative of the older lads too."

Best joins co-hosts Jae and Mat, to talk all things from the start to the season, what a 'Bronco' is and what point in the future would the boys travel to, if they could.

On the episode, we review the recent game against the Dolphins and the week that was at the Club, which included three special debut performances.

The boys reflected on their own debut jersey presentations plus being back at home for the first time in the new season.

We also preview the huge upcoming clash against the Raiders back at McDonald Jones Stadium this Sunday afternoon.

We finish off with our regular segment 'Three Goats with Crokes' inspired by US comedian and actor Will Ferrell, as we name his three best movies of all time. Also, we answer some of your fan questions for Bradman, sent in via our Instagram story.
