The nib Newcastle Knights and iconic Rugby League apparel provider Classic Sportswear will join forces in 2023 with Classic signing on as the Knights Official Apparel Partner for the next three seasons.

Classic will produce the on-field and off-field apparel for the Knights National Rugby League (NRL), National Rugby League Women (NRLW), New South Wales Cup, Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership, Jersey Flegg Cup, Tarsha Gale Cup, SG Ball Cup & Harold Matthews Cup teams until the end of the 2025 season.

Synonymous with Rugby League, Classic Sportswear has been delivering high-performance sportswear for 88 years and was established in 1934.  One hundred per cent Australian-owned, it is recognised throughout the sporting industry for its exceptional high-quality products for elite athletes and fans.

nib Newcastle Knights & Wests Group Australia Chief Executive Officer Philip Gardner says Classic’s connection to the Hunter region as well as their expertise in producing superior athletic wear has set the partnership up for success.

“We are thrilled to welcome Classic to the Newcastle Knights family,” Mr Gardner said.

“Classic is an iconic Rugby League brand and is run by people who know the sport inside and out. The work that has gone into producing our 2023 range is significant and we know that our players, Members and fans will enjoy the cutting-edge design and production that is a hallmark of the range, both on-field and off.

“While brands within the Classic family, in particular CSM, are well known in our region, this will be the first time in the Knights’ 35-year history that we have worn the Classic logo on the Knights jersey.

“As a result, we couldn’t be more excited to work with Warren Carney, Michael McDonald and the entire Classic team into next year and for many years to come.”

Warren Carney, Managing Director at Classic Sportswear, is extremely pleased with the opportunity to partner with the Knights until at least the end of the 2025 season.

“The opportunity to partner with the Knights is exciting for everyone at Classic Sportswear and we thank Philip Gardner for his vote of confidence and Ross Smart for his expertise and contribution in uniting our brands in such a strong partnership,” Carney said.

“We share a deep connection with the Hunter region and North Coast of NSW through longstanding relationships formed with junior rugby league clubs over several decades through our grassroots brand, CSM.

“To now be able to extend our presence in the Hunter region through our high-performance brand Classic Sportswear in many ways completes our cycle, from outfitting Newcastle’s future stars through to the Knights elite players at NRL and NRLW level.”

“We look forward to delivering our high quality, innovative products to the Knights playing group and all members and fans”

The new training lines will be revealed ahead of the Knights return for pre-season in early November.
