Ultimate Guide: Sharks name team for Sunday

In their last outing for the 2022 NRL season, the nib Newcastle Knights will battle the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks this Sunday at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Celebrating Old Boys Day and apart of another double-header with the NRLW side, Sunday's game should be an entertaining and great day for rugby league to conclude the campaign.

The Knights went down to the Gold Coast Titans last start away from home and will aim to finish their season on a high note in front of the Hunter faithful.

TEAM NEWS

UPDATE: In two late changes, Jayden Brailey and Krystian Mapapalangi come out of the squad.

Brailey is out with a heel injury while Mapapalangi has withdrawn to be eligible for the Jersey Flegg Cup Semi-Final.

Chris Randall and Enari Tuala come into the run-on side while Simi Sasagi moves onto the interchange bench.

For the Sharks, no changes to their squad.

TUESDAY: Knights NRL Head Coach Adam O'Brien named his 22-man squad for our Old Boys Day clash against the Sharks.

In the one change from the defeat to the Gold Coast, Phoenix Crossland replaces injured five-eighth Anthony Milford (ribs) in the halves with Adam Clune while Chris Randall returns to the NRL on the interchange bench.

For the Sharks, Dale Finucane is listed among the reserves as he looks to return from a rib cartilage issue that sidelined him last week.

Winger Matt Ikuvalu is also back from a groin strain so Kayal Iro drops out. Connor Tracey (concussion) will be rested

OLD BOYS DAY

The last home game will once again play host to Old Boys Day with past players, coaches and administrators traveling from all around the world to reminisce and celebrate the wonderful history of the club since its inception in 1988.

334 players have played first grade for the Knights since the first team ran out in '88.

The Club will also hold a Hall of Fame dinner this Saturday night to induct a new batch into the prestigious group and honour our Life Members.

A huge day on the Knights calendar, sit back and enjoy our Newcastle Knights Old Boys and Father's Day celebrations, before the Old Boys form a Guard of Honour to welcome players onto the field.

STAT ATTACK

The Knights have previously played the Sharks 57 times since 1988. Their side has won their last five fixtures this season.

For percentage set completion, the Knights are just in front with 75% while the Sharks sit at 74%.

Dane Gagai ran for a team-high 236 run metres last outing and made three line-breaks for two tries.

Sharks halfback Nicho Hynes has the most field goals this season with four.
