Presser Points: AOB and Brailey react to Tigers win

The nib Newcastle Knights snapped a four-game losing run to defeat the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Sunday.

After three tries in the first half, the side held on with a gutsy defensive performance in the final stages to claim the two points.

The Head Coach Adam O'Brien and Club Captain Jayden Brailey spoke after the game on the performance, the week leading into it, the message from the players and more.

ON THE WIN

"It's a relief for everyone, players, staff, families. It was ugly, but we don't care, we got it done," O'Brien said.

"I thought the two or three minutes before half-time and the two or three minutes before full-time summed up what we want to be.

"We got some things wrong and it will be ugly at times, but they fought hard in those periods and kept turning them away.

"For that I'm really proud of them."

ON THE WEEK

"Look it matters, everyone is invested, I'm the same it's not just me. From the physios to gear stewards, players," O'Brien said.

"It was a tough week, I'm really proud of the players. They rallied and were united, trained well and I'm really pleased for them.

"(The players) certainly grabbed it, the leaders addressed some stuff and there was some stuff that needed to be addressed.

"There is no doubt there has been a lot of commentary on our Club and how we run things. Some things are some learnings for us, some things are completely inaccurate.

"But when you're losing, you open yourself up to that. We take our medicine and look at the parts we can control and can do something about and the rest we forget.

ON THE PLAYER PERSPECTIVE

"It was tough reading all the headlines, there was stuff we didn't like and probably a lot of it that wasn't true," Brailey said.

"In tough times we've got to stick together and pull yourself out of weeks like this, and I thought we did a really good job this week to block out the outside noise and use that as motivation and show who we really are.

"It was just a gritty performance tonight."

ON YOUNG PLAYERS PERFORMANCE

"We had some young players out there tonight," O'Brien said.

"And that probably showed a little bit in the second half, young Simi (Sasagi), Brodie Jones, Phoenix Crossland, Tex Hoy.

"It's a young team out there trying to fight with everything they've got to get the win and then when the game is in the balance, I was proud of them.

"And Bradman Best, it was his first game back in a long time, so to have all those young guys out there and experience a way to hang on.

"I was heartbroken for them against Canberra (in Round 15) a month ago, but really happy to see those young blokes hang in there and fight and get the win."

ON J-SAF UPDATE

"It was a HIA, he was down there with the doctor when I left," O'Brien said.

"But he is ok, he's on his feet.

ON KLEMMER INCLUSION

"It's been dealt with, there is a process that went through and sometimes when you go through a process, you realise you can do it a different way so you change it," O'Brien said.

"We're better for going through that part.

"Klem accepted some accountability on some of his stuff, he addressed the team and no doubt, it's dealt with now.

"He's back in the team, he's back at training now so I can pick him on Tuesday."

ON PLAYERS INVESTED

"Milf is not here next year, but he was hurting and he was one of the first to come up to me after the game, (he's) really invested," O'Brien said.

"Hasn't been here long, but they've all gone through the week. It's not just me, and not just the people who were involved in the early part of the week. Milford's in it, it's our whole Club.

"Like I said, it's one game, we still got a ways to go to write the ending chapter of our season.

"I just want to focus on right now for these boys."
