The nib Newcastle Knights NRLW side came within a single point of an opening round victory and will look to bounce back in Round 2.
It will be no easy feat with the team set to face the reigning NRLW winners and three-time premiers in the Brisbane Broncos.
After leading twice during the opening game, the Knights went down 13-12 to the Eels while the Broncos convincingly defeated the Sydney Roosters 20-4 at McDonald Jones Stadium.

TEAM NEWS
UPDATE: Two former Broncos in Maitua Feterika and Ngatokotoru Arakau come into the side for the injured Caitlan Johnston and Phoebe Desmond.
EARLIER: After impressive first games, Team Captain Romy Teitzel and Jayme Fressard, will relish coming up against their former team.
For the Broncos, 21-year-old winger, Hagiga Mosby, will make her debut on the wing in place of the injured Julia Robinson.
Sara Sautia has moved to lock with Nakita Sao moving to the reserves while Lavinia Gould and debutant Hayley Maddick come onto the bench.
STAT ATTACK
Along with etching her name in the history books as the inaugural captain and first try-scorer, Romy Teitzel tallied 150 running metres and had three tackle breaks in the narrow loss to the Eels.
A devastating Phoebe Desmond earned herself a spot in the NRLW team of the week for a starring role off the bench scoring the Knights second try and running for over 100 metres.
The Knights will be out to become only the second team to tame the Broncos, who have only lost the one game in the NRLW since 2018.
