Season Review: Jake Clifford

Jake Clifford has assimilated into the nib Newcastle Knights team in 2021 and added another weapon to the side's arsenal.

Having arrived mid-season from the North Queensland Cowboys, the five-eighth quickly established a valuable partnership with halfback, Mitchell Pearce.

The team won six straight games with the pair playing in the halves on course to the finals.

Clifford made his Knights debut on Old Boy's Day against the Parramatta Eels at McDonald Jones Stadium.

His first win came against the Warriors in Round 15 where he first showcased is signature spiralling bomb.

Clifford wreaked havoc on defences in the red and blue featuring in seven wins since his mid-season arrival.

Clifford with the big show and go

Along with his playmaking abilities, Clifford also became first-choice goal-kicker.

His conversion rate sat at just under 70% at the end of the season while he also had just over 300 kicking metres on average throughout the year.

Adding to his stats was seven try-assists and two tries in the Knights jumper.

Heading into his first pre-season with his new teammates, you can expect to see Clifford go from strength-to-strength in 2022.
