Man of the Match: Clifford stands up, Klem powers on

It wasn't the prettiest game of rugby league, but they're all worth two competition points.

The nib Newcastle Knights got over the top of a gritty Canterbury in a 22-16 win at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast, and there were many strong performances from the troops.

Don't forget to have your say by voting for your man of the match below!

Jake Clifford

Since arriving from North Queensland mid-year, Clifford has rarely missed a beat.

That being said, this was easily his best game in red and blue.

The dynamic No.6 was in everything, finishing the game with two try assists, two line breaks and a crucial try early in the second half.

Clifford also managed 106 run metres, with his dynamic running game improving every week.

There's no doubting the Townsville product was close to the difference tonight.

David Klemmer

Not for the first time this year, Klemmer was right up amongst the best-on-ground.

In a game fought mostly in the middle third, Klemmer was near unstoppable against his former Club.

'Klem' ran for 213 run metres, with 110 coming post contact. For context, only one Bulldogs forward ran for over 100 metres in total (Luke Thompson).

Add to that just one missed tackle out of 35, it was a game-changing shift from our man in the middle.

Hymel Hunt

This was one of Hymel's strongest games of the season.

With the Bulldogs keen to play the arm-wrestle, Hunt was an enormous help to his forward pack at the back, digging in for some tough runs and 194 run metres.

He was also a whisker away from one of the putdowns of the season in the first half, but was he your man of the match? Have your say below!
