Connor Watson is set to return to the field for the nib Newcastle Knights in time for this weeks Old Boys Day clash with the Gold Coast.
No.9 to return and forward sidelined
Watson missed last week’s game in Campbelltown with a knee injury, however Head of Physical Performance Balin Cupples says the handy utility has progressed well since copping the knock.
“Connor went down last week with a minor MCL strain, he’s worked through last week with Alter-G running and come out of the brace,” Cupples said.
“He’s nailed those early return to run sessions on the field in the last couple of days.
“He’s still got some key sessions he’ll need to hit tomorrow and Wednesday, but all going to plan we should see Connor return to the squad this weekend.”
Glasby: Disappointment and playing for pride
The good news continues on the injury front, with Danny Levi cleared of any serious damage after coming from the field on Saturday night.
“Danny came off with about 15 to go on the weekend,” Cupples said.
“He’s pulled up really well, so will be another one available come the Titans game.”
The news wasn’t so good for Pasami Saulo, with the young prop’s season likely over thanks to an injury to his finger.
“Last week in the Cup game he (Saulo) got a central tendon injury with his index finger,” Cupples said.
Knights fan’s gruelling walk for charity
“That rules him out of the next few weeks and takes him into the off season.
“He’ll be able to build through all his running progressions with a hand injury and we’ll make sure he’s ready to go come season kick-off.”
