Newcastle great Ashley Gordon has been hailed as a hero.
The former fullback reportedly helped foil an attempted car-jacking by three masked men last weekend.
"The car stopped at a red light and these three young blokes came at them with bats raised," the eyewitness said according to WWOS.
"They obviously didn't know who they were dealing with because the three blokes got out of the car - even though they were unarmed - and took them on.
"They quickly disarmed them and had them on the ground. Two were arrested when the cops arrived a few minutes later but the third one escaped."
