Injury update: Fitzy leaves brace and return from blood-clot

Lachlan Fitzgibbon is one step closer to making his NRL return.

Having dislocated his elbow earlier this month, the local product has a return to the paddock in his sights.

Head of Performance, Balin Cupples has revealed the backrower will leave his elbow brace this week with the injury unit in a promising state as the Knights edge toward the business end of the season.

Injury Report: Squad health check

“A very disappointing result on the weekend but fortunately, health-wise, we’ve come out of it really clean,” Cupples said.

“We’ve got a couple of long-termers in Eddie and Lachy at the moment.

“Lachy comes out of his brace this week. In terms of the arm, he’s been building his range – supination, pronation, through that elbow.

“Both he and Eddie have been building strength through the injured arms and being able to run over the last few weeks.

“Lachy we should see return in the next few weeks and Eddie after that.

“At this stage of the season, touch wood, pretty healthy.”

Meanwhile, Beau Fermor is set to make his return this weekend.

The backrower has been sidelined with a kidney injury which threatened to end his season.

Having overcome a blood clot and been given the green light from the specialist, the 20-year-old is available to play Canterbury Cup on Saturday.

“It was a pretty innocuous injury but pretty significant,” Cupples said.

“To get that follow-up specialist appointment a couple of weeks ago and get some positive news … he’ll build into team training this week and he’ll be available for the Cup side.”
