Injured Lee just humbled to be in Origin mix

He was so close to making his Origin debut for Queensland.

But injury got in the way.

It was a tough to pill to swallow for Edrick Lee.

Rep rewards great for Knights

“It sure was,” Lee admitted.

The Knights winger was added to the squad alongside a number of other uncapped players.

Disappointingly he was forced to pull out of the Origin game two in Perth, carrying a minor thigh strain.

“First and foremost, I’ve got to look after my health before I can take the next step,” Lee added.

“Once I can get my injury back to 100 per cent health, I’m sure I’ll put my hand up for selection.”

Lee is just humbled to be in the mix.

“It was exciting to be named, also humbling to be named in the squad,” he said.

“It’s a kids dream is to play in an Origin arena so to be available for selection is one thing but to be selected in the squad is another thing.”

The setback hasn’t deterred the 26-year-old.

If anything, it’s made him more determined.

“It’s definitely a bit of motivation I can take out of it and a bit of confidence as well,” Lee explained.

For now, Lee is concentrating on getting back to full fitness for the Knights clash with the Broncos next weekend.
