Nathan Brown has cut two players from his extended bench ahead of the nib Newcastle Knights’ season opener against Cronulla.
Brodie Jones and Josh King fall out of the side and will line up in the Canterbury Cup NSW which will act as the curtain raiser to the NRL game on Friday night.
Brown will drop another two players from the bench one hour prior to kick-off but expects his team will line-up 1-17.
“As a whole, the 17 we’ve named, we felt they’ve earned the right to play this week,” Brown said.
“We expect them to put in a good performance.”
