The Newcastle Knights SG Ball squad had their first win for the season with a close encounter against the Sydney Roosters.

The U18s got off to a blistering start, scoring 18 unanswered points before the opposition clawed their back to level the scores at 18-all.

Playing their first games for the season, outstanding performances came from Tyler Doney and development player Ryan Potts who helped guide the side to a win late in the game for Round 3.

Orny Keeley and Mitch Henderson scored doubles.
