SKD on earning a new deal and 300 games

There's been no shortage of interest in our boys this week.

The nib Newcastle Knights attract plenty of media attention and we've pulled together the best of it in case you missed any of the news.

Here's what our boys got up to this week:

November 7 – SKD CHASING 300 NRL GAMES

Shaun Kenny-Dowall is sitting on 254 top grade games and believes he can make the 300 milestone.

The oldest player on the roster, Kenny-Dowall turns 31 in late January and believes he has plenty of football left in him.

Be the Player... the story so far.

Now, he's set himself the goal of making the illustrious list of players to have featured in 300 or more NRL games.

"Yeah, I've definitely thought about that," Kenny-Dowall told the Newcastle Herald.

"I still feel like I've got a lot to give in this game.

"I've definitely set my sights on it. I've got visions of playing 300 for sure.

"I think it's a great honour and testament to anyone who can play 300 in such a tough game, and I think it's a definite possibility."

The winger has secured 131 NRL tries during his career, which puts him 24th on the all-time list and behind only Greg Inglis (149), Brett Morris (146) and Michael Jennings (137) among current players.

With 21 Tests for New Zealand to his name, Kenny-Dowall is a classy veteran and the most high-profile Knight off-contract in 2019.

But the 2013 premiership winner is happy to let the year get underway before entering into negotiations for a new deal.

"There's no rush," he said.

"I wanted to let my football do the talking.

"I know I'll have to earn another contract, and that means playing good football, which is what I have to do."
