Every player in the NRL is enjoying the Christmas period with a well-earned pre-season break but Mitchell Pearce has found time to give back to the community during his holiday.

The nib Newcastle Knights captain returned to Sydney to spend Christmas with his family but instead of celebrating the festive season, he donated his time to help those in need.

Pearce and his sisters spent the evening before Christmas in Randwick helping the homeless.

The trio joined 'Project Kindness', a group in Sydney helping those in need with donated goods and services in a bid to change their lives.

The halfback posted on his Instagram:

"Helping out at Randwick shops cooking dinner together with the homeless unreal experience @projectkindnessau how goods Xmas time."
